The Beauty Benefits of Staying at Home

Catch up on your beauty sleep!

For some of you the national lockdown means you cannot commute into work or for others this means you are temporarily out of work but it's not all bad! Enjoy extra sleep, reenergise your body and allow your skin to feel replenished as sleeping really helps to regenerate your skin cells. Glow like the queen you are!

No makeup day everyday

Since you've got nowhere to be, embrace your natural beauty and go makeup free. It's nice give makeup a break as it allows your skin to breathe. A lot of the time makeup worsens clogged up pores, blackheads and blemishes. This leads me on to my next point.

There's more time to take care of your skin

First things first, make sure your being hygienic. Wash your pillowcase and bedsheets at least once a week and if you do wear makeup now and then keep you brushes or other makeup applicators clean. Try to find a skincare routine that suits you, whether you have oily skin or blackheads, do your research and choose the right products for you. I'm quite lazy in terms of having a routine but I use the Body Shop Vitamin E Gentle Facial Wash every morning and some nights. It's a great antioxidant which nourishes my skin and treats ageing effects as a result of sunlight. Once a week I use the Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Revealing Liquid Peel which combats pollutants left on my skin. I go from having dull looking skin to radiant looking skin. It gives me the confidence to go days without foundation so I would highly recommend!

Get active whatever the time of day

There's no excuse to avoid exercise, eventually you'll get fed up of sitting indoors whether your watching Netflix or scrolling through your social media. Get outside for your 1 hour jog or relaxing yoga session. Not only does it release stress but it will have your skin glowing more than ever. When the sun's out get all the Vitamin D you need for healthier looking skin.

Healthy nails

Nail salons are all shut so use this time to let your nails recover from acrylics and gels. Allow your nails to grow using a nail strengthener and avoid using nail varnish remover that contains acetone which can be harsh on weak nails. Keep them short so they'll be less prone to breaking and always moisturise- this will also prevent them from damage.

Home spa days

Play some relaxing music maybe some R&B slow jams and pour yourself a glass of wine. Light a few candles, run yourself bubble bath with sweetly scented bath oils and salts of your choice and relax. If you can create your own facial- staying indoors may have your skin feeling dull because of the lack of vitamin D. Avocado, honey and greek yogurt is a great combo to revitalise your skin. The avocado gives you vitamin C to brighten your skin, the honey creates a natural glow and the yogurt acts as the perfect exfoliator to soothe your skin.
